The Whispering Oaks Motel is a two-story building and is located on Whispering Oaks Boulevard just southwest of Interstate #16. It is a minor setting in the first chapter, The Highway, of the Dark Carnival campaign in Left 4 Dead 2.
History
A motel between Rayford and Whispering Oaks Amusement Park in Griffin County, its primary purpose was to provide visitors to the park with overnight lodging. Complete with 32 rooms and open 24 hours a day, it is a fairly decent motel and provides its guests with all the basic essentials and needs. The motel appears to have a dining/kitchen area so breakfast (and possibly other meals) are most likely served to its visitors as well as free coffee, there is also an outdoor swimming pool with a diving board and a sun bathing/patio area beside the pool. Like most motels and hotels, it also has ice and vending machines for those who need it as well, the rooms are equipped with cable and color TVs, phones, and air conditioning units for the hot Georgian climate.
Current Status
CEDA set up an evacuation center at Whispering Oaks Amusement Park and most likely had the military go out to the motel and be a lookout or serve as the checkpoint in the area before allowing people further in to get closer to the park. When the infected overran the military soldiers guarding the area and with the soldiers failing to check in with CEDA at the amusement park, CEDA assumed the soldiers were lost and hurried things up at the evacuation center knowing that the infection was making its way closer. Once the evacuation was complete, CEDA agents put up a "Closed" sign and barricaded the area off; however, they left the search lights on signalling to Survivors to proceed towards the park and had a helicopter continue flying around the park looking for refugees.
When the military was occupying this area, they most likely had a soldier up in the billboard ad sniping, they gathered supplies and placed them both in a room near the stairwell and beside the pool, they also barricaded off the main highway so people would be forced to go through the motel and through the military checkpoint, and finally any infected individuals were killed and their corpses were burned in the motel pool. It seems that the soldiers were slowly being picked off by the Infected until the remaining soldiers decided to head to the Humvee and flee the area, however they too were killed by the infected.
The Survivors go through the area due to the highway blockade and find the left behind supplies and weapons, they must get to the second level of the motel to get around the barricade where they head behind the motel and down a gully to proceed onward to Whispering Oaks Amusement Park.

Notes
- This is the third hotel/motel setting that the survivors have to go through. First being the Harbor View Hotel and the second being The Vannah
- A hunting rifle is always found on top of the billboard, which makes an ideal area to snipe and shoot at the infected
- There is always an alarmed car found in the parking lot
- Nick will comment on the burnt bodies in the pool
- The light source of the parking lot is primarily from two spotlights mounted atop a Humvee in the parking lot
- Some of the rooms are supplied with pills, weapons, first aid kits, and ammo
- The survivors are seen walking by the motel in the Left 4 Dead 2 trailer
- In the video when the survivors walk by the Whispering Oaks Motel sign, it says "Closed until further noticed due to sickness" (similar to the convenience store in Riverside in Death Toll) where as in-game, it says "Cable TV, Free Coffe, Pool" and on the other side it reads, "Open 24 Hours, Free Coffee, Pool"
