"There's lights on in that church!"

"I can't believe he bit me...I should have never let him in... it's been an hour... I must be immune. Better safe than sorry..."
Church Guy

Riverside First Church is seen at the end chapter three and at the beginning of chapter four in the Death Toll campaign of Left 4 Dead.

History

This place of worship helps serves the religious needs of the citizens of Riverside. The main hall is somewhat small but is complete with several rows of benches that seat the public and near the front is the stand where the priest would give his religious sermon. There are pews along the side, right beside the stand where the choir would sing and a piano that would play along with them with a bell in the church tower. Near the entrance, there is the priest's office and outside, there is a graveyard for the Riverside citizens that have passed on.

Current Status

When the quarantine of Fairfield and Whitney County failed, CEDA converted the church into a evacuation center. Refugees brought the Infection to this small town, the military may have began shooting infected civilians in the church which now is stained with blood and gore and several names graffitied on to the walls. With the military shooting the infected civilians, one of the last remaining Survivors in the town took refuge inside the church. The military finally pulled out and completely abandoned the town where the Church Guy allowed a Survivor who he thought was immune into his saferoom. The infected Survivor bit the Church Guy infecting him and was most likely killed by him. The Church Guy being paranoid after seeing the military shooting everyone and the fellow Survivor who bit him did not want to take any more chances letting anyone else in to his saferoom. Unfortunately for him, he was not as immune as he thought and became one of the Infected.

CEDA's list of evacuation centers

  • CEDA refers to Valley Church as the Riverside First Church during the evacuation of Whitney County and the city of Fairfield (as seen in the CEDA posters).
  • One of the last remaining Survivors of Riverside was probably the Church Guy who finally succumbed to the infection.
  • The Church's address is 27 Tan Boulevard as seen on the CEDA Evacuation Center poster.
  • This is the only saferoom to have someone else in it other than the Survivors who was alive (even if for a short moment).
  • The bright light seen in the Crash Course campaign may have been the lights on the rooftop of the church.
  • The church is either Catholic (the main religion in Pennsylvania), Anglican, or Luthern since the church appears to have been decorated.
